Which runs from High Peak Junction to Dowlow near to Buxton. Surrounded by beautiful countryside the traffic-free trail is ideal for horse riders, cyclists, naturalists and walkers. It is suitable for wheel chairs and pushchairs along the flat sections.
Once on the Tissington Trail, the views on a clear day are fantastic, especially all the way down the trail to Ashbourne, and there are stop-off points with picnic tables at the old stations along the route with refreshments and toilets available at Parsley Hay, Tissington and Ashbourne.
The Tissington Trail is very easy, flat and suitable for all ages. It is geared up for families although the route steadily declines from Parsley Hay to Ashbourne, so it may be advisable for families with young children to do the route from south to north (Ashbourne to Parsely Hay), so that the journey back is more downhill.
The whole Tissington Trail from Parsley Hay to Ashbourne is 13½ miles in distance, but with car parking available at Hartington, Alsopp, Tissington and Thorpe along the trail, a much shorter cycle ride can be easily planned for families with small children.
